Decrease polystyrene in landfills

Every year in Quebec, more than 40,000 tonnes of polystyrene waste is buried in landfills. Whether post-consumer or post-industrial, the vast majority of polystyrene waste is buried. This is made up of packaging from electronic products and furniture, food trays, commercial products or insulation products. At the same time, more than 60,000 tonnesof brand new polystyrene is purchased and consumed each year in Quebec. Our consumer society is caught in a vicious circle: producing more and more, with more waste to bury. At Polystyvert, we decided to make this circle virtuous. We collect post-consumer polystyrene waste through eco-centers, and post-industrial waste through our service. We purify and recycle this waste to obtain polystyrene pellets of excellent quality with the same properties as brand new polystyrene.
